BANKS – The city of Banks begins road maintenance projects tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8, with contractor Oregon City-based Earth Works Excavation undertaking the job of updating part of an upgrade to the city’s waterline infrastructure.
Beginning Wednesday, May 8, Oregon City-based Earth Works Excavation will begin constructing a new water line on Commerce Street, replace an existing line on Depot Street, and tie into existing water manes to three roads that connect to Main Street.
A website post with a statement from the city of Banks warns residents of upcoming road maintenance and improvements that may call for commuters to alter their morning and avenue driving routes.
Those three roads experiencing maintenance and/or upgrades are Market Street, which is right next to city hall, Sunset Avenue, which runs from behind the Banks Fire Department to just behind the Banks Public Library on Sunset Avenue; and tying into water lines on Depot Street, which is on the opposite side of Market Street and Main Street.

For the time being “all residences along Commerce Street and Depot Streett will have new water connections made during this project.” (We warn that) you may experience service interruptions while those city infrastructure improvements. We are working on completing each project and posting the results on the city’s website demonstrating and explaining overall progress the multi-faceted radio construction improvements project.
During the construction, there also will be no parking on Commerce Street and portions of Depot Street.
Banks residents, and visiting family or friends to be very cautious walking on any of these streets, and to follow all traffic control measures, especially flaggers and road work construction signs.
Preliminary construction schedule
Wednesday, May 8 through Monday, May 20: Construction of a new water line on Commerce Street and Depot Street.
Saturday, June 1 through Saturday, June 15: Construct new curb and sidewalk on Depot Street and Commerce Street.
Saturday, June 15 through Thursday, June 30: Paving Grind Commerce Street between Market and Depot Street. Rebuild Commerce Street from Depot Street to Sunset Avenue.
Thursday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 15: Final pavement of Commerce Street. Cleanup of all projects areas to commence and complete Following the completion of each section of construction.
City warnings to the public
During the construction, there also will be no parking on Commerce Street and portions of Depot Street.
Please be very cautious walking on any of these streets, follow all traffic control measures, especially flaggers and road work construction signs.
