This is the Banks Police monthly report for August 2025.

First notice to all and It is requested to remind everyone that school started this month and SCHOOL SPEED ZONES are now back in effect. Let us all travel as an example and remember 20 MPH by our schools. Enforcement missions with the WCSO Traffic Unit is planned here.

It is also important to remind all with Banks Road now open that it is 25 MPH once you enter town. I don’t think it is a coincidence that the first car on the early morning of the first day I worked after the road was opened was 38 MPH before cresting the hill leaving town. It is 25 MPH until you have passed the higher speed zone sign and 25MPH the moment you enter town at the speed zone sign.

Notable calls for August,

8/3/25 – The restraining order violation continued from the previous month was confirmed through investigation and on the 23rd the suspect was located and arrested for the violation. Case cleared by arrest.

8/11/25 – An individual in mental crisis called in to threaten suicide. When deputies arrived the subject had a razor knife to his own throat. Deputies were able to talk the knife away from the individual without any incident or injuries and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

8/15/25 – On Maplecrest dispatch alerted Fire and police to a vehicle fire. I arrived just after the fire truck and a compact car was fully engulfed with fire and the fire was burning into the tree it was parked under. Fire quickly extinguished the fire, and it was determined an overfull cigarette ash receptacle caught fire and started the entire car into flames. I determined the remains of the car were a safety hazard to the community and the vehicle was towed away.

8/16-17/25 – Banks BBQ at Sunset Park. Went very well with very few incidents that were all able to be resolved without police enforcement action. There were no reported acts of violence or arrests at the BBQ.

8/16/25 – An individual who was trespassed from Jim’s Market the day before returned and was intoxicated. He was located and arrested for returning after being trespassed.

8/19/25 – Banks-Vernonia Trailhead a vehicle was hit in the parking lot and the suspect vehicle was unable to be located or identified. A report was made to assist the insurance company for the victim vehicle.

This concludes the August 2025 Monthly Police Report.
