A detailed police log is no longer being produced by the sheriff's office. A breakdown of calls by category and audio from the Banks City Council meeting will be how the Banks Post shares the "police log" moving forward.
Former Banks High School teacher Wymon Wayne Smith, 67, pleaded guilty to two sexual abuse counts Wednesday morning and was sentenced to more than six years in prison.
Wymon Smith, a former Banks High School teacher arrested twice in 2025 on sex abuse charges, is expected in court Jan. 13 for a plea and sentencing hearing.
"Parties were again notified and counseled to try to solve their differences or separate for a while and to not unnecessarily utilize law enforcement for their relationship struggles," and other items in this month's police log for the city of Banks.
"I don’t think it is a coincidence that the first car on the early morning of the first day I worked after [Banks Road] was opened was 38 MPH before cresting the hill leaving town," writes Deputy Ryan Pope in this month's police log.
A woman cycling on NW Dairy Creek Road in the northern Mountaindale area was struck by a vehicle overnight and lay in a ditch all night before a passerby found her and called for help Sunday morning.
