Temperatures will plummet Sunday night, prompting a 'Freeze Warning' from the Portland National Weather Service beginning 1 a.m. through 10 a.m. Monday morning.The warning is widespread throughout western Oregon and Washington, with temperatures in the region forecast to drop as low as 22 degrees overnight. “Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the agency said in their waning. Areas above 1,000 feet, such as Timber and other coast range areas such as the summit on Highway 6 can expect the coldest temperatures, the NWS said. Some advice from the NWS:-- Protect tender plants from the cold-- Outdoor water pipes should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drop slowly-- In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained and above ground pipes covered.The Monday morning commute may be icy as well, so increase following distance and slow down.
