With the Northwest Oregon district entering fire season early Monday morning, all of the state’s Oregon Department of Forestry districts are now officially in fire season. Fire officials are once again asking people to not inadvertently torch the state.
The Oregon Department of Forestry announced that fire season will be declared Monday, July 11 at 1 a.m. in the Northwest Oregon Forest Protective Association region, which stretches from northern Yamhill County to Astoria and from near Forest Grove to the Pacific Ocean.
A rainy late spring is delaying the start of fire season in Oregon, but state officials said Monday they still anticipate a challenging summer and fall.
