A vehicle fire was quickly extinguished, with no injuries, in the Bacona community north of Buxton Sunday afternoon, according to the Banks Fire District.
"We are all glad to see it go," said ODF Forest Grove District Forester Mike Cafferata in an email sent Tuesday as the agency filed the appropriate paperwork to officially close the 2024 fire season.
Fire danger in lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry in the Northwest Oregon Forest Protective Association (NWOFPA) were set to “moderate” or blue at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The summer burn ban enacted throughout Washington County was lifted Friday, the Banks Fire District and Forest Grove Fire & Rescue said. The DEQ burn season opens Sunday.
Fire danger was at moderate until Thursday, when high temperatures brought it back to "high." Tuesday morning, ODF officials brought it back down to moderate.
