A second informational meeting about Measure 34-336, a school bond to tackle a number of infrastructure projects at the Banks School District will be held Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m. at the Hornshuh Creek Fire Station in Buxton.
The administration and school board from the Banks School District will hold a town hall meeting Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a bond that will appear on the ballot for district voters in May.
"We understand that early releases can be an inconvenience, but the safety of our students and staff is our top priority," the Banks School District said in a notice announcing a three hour early release for Friday. "We encourage everyone to plan accordingly and make the necessary arrangements."
Contractors working near the fence line of the Banks Elementary School struck a gas line Thursday morning, the Banks School District said in a district-wide alert. "Please avoid the area and do not try to come pick up your students at this time," Banks Fire said.
BHS robotics club has two teams: the veteran team, Tacos In Kool Hats, made up of 10 students and a rookie team, Viridescent Vipers, with three students. This year both teams had extremely competitive seasons.
The Banks High School girls varsity basketball team defeated Corbett 47 to 38 Saturday March 4 to become 3A OSAA state champions for the first time in school history.
