The Washington County Sheriff's Office is recruiting teens ages 14 to 17 for its Search and Rescue program.

Members assist with searches for missing persons and evidence in criminal cases while learning skills related to law enforcement, search and rescue and emergency medical services. The program requires a two-year commitment and participation in a basic training academy.

Applicants must be Washington County residents with a minimum 2.3 GPA, no failing classes and good physical health.

The Search and Rescue team is often found participating at local search efforts, including in the search for Thomas Weightman.
