Ethics

The staff of the Banks Post follows the SPJ code of ethics (see below or click the link).

We do not have an opinion section in our publication, other than columns and letters to the editor written by community members. We believe our community wants to read what we know, not what we think.

We don’t make political endorsements, and we don’t opine on local topics with two exceptions: Local or state legislation that threatens or bolsters access to public records and open government meetings (as journalists, we rely on transparency to do our work, and will vigorously defend our and others’ access to the inner working of government); and topics that represent an existential threat to the lives of members of our community.
