Original story below.
Banks School District buses are on road restriction routes Wednesday morning due to weather conditions.
There is no pickup today on upper Green Mountain Road, upper Hayward Road and upper Cedar Canyon Road, the Banks School District said Wednesday morning. Buses 101, 103 and 106 are running late.
Afternoon routes will be determined at noon, with updates posted to FlashAlert.
When road conditions deteriorate, the district shifts affected bus routes to modified pickup points at lower elevations. Over 80 percent of Banks students live below 200 feet in elevation, but several routes serve families on higher, more remote roads that become hazardous in snow and ice.
Under the district’s inclement weather plan, routes 101, 103 and 106 are among those most affected by winter conditions:
- Route 101 serves upper Hayward Road, Cedar Canyon Road and Parson Road. In snow conditions, pickups shift to the Dingheiser/Highway 26 junction and the Cedar Canyon Road intersection.
- Route 103 covers Green Mountain Road, Linklater Road and the Manning area. Snow-route pickups move to the Linklater/Green Mountain intersection and Manning Church.
- Route 106 handles upper Strassel Road and Timber Junction. In restricted conditions, pickups shift to the Glenwood Store and the Time Gas Station on Highway 26.
Afternoon drop-off follows the same modified pattern as the morning pickup.
The district says families will not face academic penalties for weather-related absences. The full bus route modification plan for inclement weather is available as a document from the district.
