Banks School District buses are on road restriction routes Thursday due to weather conditions, affecting both morning and afternoon service.

The following routes are on snow routes: 101 Squirrel, 112 Elephant and 202 Panda, which will have service to Turk Road.

The following routes are on limited service: 102 Tree, 103 Horse with service to Sellers and Woollen roads, 106 Turtle with no service at the Shell gas station and 108 Giraffe.

The restrictions apply to both AM and PM service today.

When road conditions deteriorate, the district shifts affected bus routes to modified pickup points at lower elevations. Over 80 percent of Banks students live below 200 feet in elevation, but several routes serve families on higher, more remote roads that become hazardous in snow and ice.

The district says families will not face academic penalties for weather-related absences. The full bus route modification plan for inclement weather is available as a document from the district.
