A Kansas City field was ignited in flames after wind "likely spread embers" from a neighboring property's illegal burn pile Tuesday afternoon, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue said.

A home in the Satellite neighborhood near Banks was engulfed in flames Monday evening, drawing Banks Fire District and neighboring agencies to a large two-story residence to battle the flames, which also spread to a nearby field.
A fawn struck and injured by a car was taken to the Banks Fire District where firefighters put their medical training, usually used on humans, to splint the baby deer's severely broken leg.
A meeting to elect officers in the Roy, Gales Creek, and Verboort CPO 13 and hear from Washington County staff on the Council Creek Trail will be held in Banks on June 26.
