A winter storm is anticipated to descend on the region starting Thursday afternoon, bringing snow, freezing rain, wind gusts, and rain in a wintry slew of weather that could snarl commutes, knock power out, and result in various closures. We’re keeping a running list as we hear about them. Know of a business, organization, or event closed or cancelled due to the weather? Let us know at [email protected].

Closing early: The city of Banks

The city of Banks has expanded their early closure on Thursday afternoon to last all of Friday as well.

“Due to the potential of inclement weather our buildings (City Administrative Office, Public Works, and Banks Public Library) will all be closing at 2pm today (Thursday, February 11, 2021), and may continue through Friday, February 12, 2021,” city recorder Angie Lanter said in an email.

Closed: Banks School District

The Banks School District is taking a snow day for Friday.

“No Comprehensive Distance Learning, no Limited In Person Instruction, no food service and no activities. All buildings closed,” the district said in an alert on Thursday evening.

Closed: St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School

St. Francis follows the Banks School District in determining school closures, so the private school in Roy will also be closed.

Closed: The Banks Public Library

The Banks Public Library will be closed Friday and Saturday.

Due to the potential for more winter weather this evening, the Banks Public Library will be closed on Saturday, February 13, 2021,” city recorder Angie Lanter said in an email sent Friday at 2:15 p.m.
