Parade, cannon, and football: It’s Homecoming at the Banks High School

A parade, a cannon, a queen and more: It’s Homecoming at the Banks High School.

A short parade around 2:15 p.m. Friday is planned from Trellis Way to the Banks High School for the day’s Homecoming festivities, staff at the Banks High School said in a social media post.

The parade will embark down Trellis Way and turn to Main Street before ending at the high school.

Friday evening, the Banks Braves will take on Rainier’s Columbians in Banks at 7 p.m. for the Homecoming football game, where “the queen will be crowned at halftime,” the school promised.

Also promised during the game is something the wider community is sure to notice, possibly many times depending on the success of the Braves: A National Guard cannon firing blanks every time the team scores.

“This cannon is VERY loud and we will be handing out free ear plugs at the entrances. Please make sure young children have hearing protection,” the school noted.

Those who can’t make it to the game can watch a livestream for free on Youtube.

Students looking to purchase tickets to Saturday night’s dance must do so in advance at the BHS office.
