For Roy, Mountaindale, contested races await for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue board positions

MOUNTAINDALE, ROY – Those in Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s (TVF&R) service territory will see a contested race for both seats that are up for reelection in the special districts election on Tuesday, May 21.

In addition to asking voters to choose who will sit on the board, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue voters will also be asked to vote on measure 34-286, a measure to renew a local option levy to maintain fire and emergency medical services.

TVF&R board position 4 is a race between incumbent Randy Lauer and challenger Robert Satterwhite. Satterwhite previously sat on Washington County Fire District #2 before voters decided to merge with TVF&R in 2016.

TVF&R board position 5 is a four-way contested race between incumbent Brian Clopton and three challengers. Kevin VanDyke, who also serves on the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District board and is running to retain his seat there, too, Jason Hitzert, who lists himself as Chief of Staff to Oregon State Representative Chris Gorsek, and Justin Dillingham, who has had a lengthy career in various paramedic positions all will face off in May.

The deadline to register to vote is April 30 and can be done online or by mailing this form to Washington County Elections, 3700 SW Murray Blvd, Ste 101, Beaverton OR 97005.
