WASHINGTON COUNTY – Early elections results indicate that, should results hold, the Banks Fire District will receive approval from area voters in their ask for continued—and increased—funding through a local option levy.

As of 9 p.m., early results show that the ‘yes’ vote to approve the levy leads at 58.03% of the vote to 41.97% in the ‘no’ camp.

In the only other competitive race for Bank area voters, Will Moore leads against James Harris in Banks School Board position 5 at 54.79% to Harris’ 43.76%.

Other races in Banks and the surrounding communities saw no challengers; Matt Vandehey, Mark Schmidlin, and Ed Ewing will coast to victory on the Banks Fire District 13 board, and Dan Streblow will win his uncontested school board seat.

These numbers will change as more votes are counted throughout the evening and in the coming days.
