Banks and Buxton area runners joined more than 500 people who finished the Vernonia Marathon, Half Marathon or Marathon Relay on Sunday on a route that mostly followed the Banks-Vernonia State Trail from Vernonia to the Banks High School.
According to results from Huber Timing, one Banks resident and one Buxton resident finished the marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifier. The half marathon drew four finishers from Banks and four from Buxton.

The event is organized by the nonprofit Oregon Road Runners Club, a group founded in Seaside in 1970, according to the ORRC website.
“There were 510 total finishers in the event,” said ORRC President Tracy Reisinger in an email to this newspaper. “327 in the half-marathon, 165 in the marathon, and 18 relay teams.”
