BANKS – Each month, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office releases a log of events it recorded while responding to dispatch calls, but a recent report showed a serious incident allegedly occurred at Banks High School.

The report says a Banks Deputy — the city of Banks contracts with the county for police services — responded to and investigated the report of a sex crime involving two Banks High School students, a female, and a male.

The Banks Post does not publish the names of alleged victims of sex crimes and does not generally report the name of minors charged with crimes except under special circumstances.

In this case, Deputy Brian van Kleef, public information officer with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, told the Banks Post because the case remains open and is being investigated he cannot provide additional details at this time, but will do so as the investigation progresses.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing unwanted sexual encounters, including ongoing verbal harassment contact your local law enforcement agency.

The Banks High School investigation is a developing story.
