BANKS – The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency (STIA) will hold a board meeting on Friday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Banks Fire District 13 headquarters in Banks at 13430 NW Main St., Banks, OR 97106.
The meeting is expected to complete the fourth STIA board discussion and update on a strategic plan the STIA board has been working on for several months; the strategic plan is expected to carry the work of the board into the next phase of the Salmonberry Trail as it moves beyond initial planning stages into more in-depth planning and actual trail construction. The first work session to develop a strategic plan for the board was held during the February 1, 2019 STIA meeting.
Topics on the rest of the business agenda include discussions on the Tillamook County Creamery Association’s proposed employee trail, a small portion of trail that would double as an initial portion of the Salmonberry, where it runs behind the Tilllamook CHasses Factory, as well as other Salmonberry Trail news along the Oregon Coast.
If approved and built, the Tillamook Creamery Association proposal would be a gravel covered portion of the Salmonberry — and only the second stretch of trail built — that would be built in Tillamook County, adding to the portion already constructed in Tillamook city limits in 2018.
The general public is invited to attend, with public comment opportunities to be held during the meeting.
The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency was established in 2015 as a framework of government agencies, including the Oregon Department of Forestry, Washington County, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and more. It is the government entity responsible for promoting and leading planning, development and maintenance of the proposed Salmonberry Trail.
