Winter Weather Advisory upgraded to Winter Storm Warning
The National Weather Service has upgraded an earlier Winter Weather Advisory to a more severe Winter Storm Warning from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 8 and 9. Forecasts now call for 3 - 8 inches in Coast Range communities: Vernonia, Trask, Timber, Jewell, Lees Camp, Sunset Summit; Banks, elsewhere could see 2 - 6 inches, with more accumulation at higher elevations. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The National Weather Service has enacted a Winter Weather Advisory from 6 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 8 and 9. Forecasts call for 3 - 7 inches in Coast Range communities: Vernonia, Trask, Timber, Jewell, Lees Camp, Sunset Summit, elsewhere could see 2 - 4 inches, with snow seeing more accumulation at higher elevations.

Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardson cuts hours back amid cancer treatment
Oregon's Secretary of State Dennis Richardson announced on February 4 that he will cut back his working hours amid treatment for his cancerous brain tumor, which he was diagnosed with in May 2018. Richardson, next in line to replace Governor Kate Brown should she resign or otherwise be unable discharge the duties of the office of Governor, is the only Republican in state office.

National Weather Service: Snow likely Thursday and Friday
The Portland branch of the National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement on Wednesday afternoon stating that snow is likely. Depending on how weather patterns develop, the agency says, up to an inch could accumulate at lower elevations by Friday morning. Higher elevation communities such as Timber can expect more significant and longer-lasting snowfall.
